Milou Halbesma appointed Public Affairs Section Manager

Milou Halbesma’s appointment as Public Affairs Section Manager at the Van Gogh Museum has given her responsibility for a number of departments - Marketing, Communications, Publications, Fundraising & Relationship Management, Visitors Services, The Mesdag Collection and Van Gogh Museum Enterprises – and made her part of the museum’s management team. Director Axel Rüger: ‘Milou is a valued associate of our museum. We have worked with her for some time already in her role as director of the Turing Foundation. I am certain that with her many talents and wealth of related experience, Milou will bring her personal touch to the management and further development of the Public Affairs Section, so I’m very much looking forward to working with her at the Van Gogh Museum.’

Milou Halbesma (1967) studied French in Grenoble, Economy at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and completed the International Executive Program in Corporate Communication at the Erasmus University. She was involved in the Turing Foundation from its establishment in 2006, initially as a board member and later as its director. During her tenure she established a new capital fund, launched the Turing Art Grant and the Turing National Poetry Competition, and was responsible for the foundation’s donation policy in the field of art and nature conservation, financial management and external communications. Before her involvement with the Turing foundation, Milou Halbesma was head of Communications at the Dutch Cancer Society where she led rebranding of the charity and created many public campaigns. She acquired museum experience as marketing manager at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, where she was in charge of marketing associated with the reopening of the museum and Panorama2000.
