Van Gogh EarChair

Dutch design meets Van Gogh’s masterpieces!

In partnership with PROOFF the Van Gogh Museum produced a special line of the iconic EarChair. This chair, by Dutch designer Jurgen Bey, incorporates masterpieces by Vincent van Gogh. There is a choice of Sunflowers, Wheatfield with crows, Almond blossom or The harvest for the interior.

Great demand
Director Axel Rüger: ‘The Van Gogh Museum derives almost 75% of its revenue from sales of admission tickets and merchandise. To retain this position we actively seek to associate ourselves with leading brands in the development of exclusive products. Our partnership with PROOFF is a perfect example of this. The chairs had been on show for some time in the museum’s bookshop and there was great demand for them. Which is why we decided to develop this exclusive line with PROOFF.’

Space within a space
When Jurgen Bey designed the EarChair in 2002 he produced a chair which can create a space within a space. The form of the chair muffles ambiant sound, thereby generating the perfect surroundings in which to work or read. If the chairs are placed opposite each other they almost create a room within a room.

The Van Gogh EarChair can be ordered via the online Museum Shop.
