Van Gogh at work

Anniversary exhibition

The Van Gogh Museum reopened on 1 May with the anniversary exhibition Van Gogh at work. This showed how the artist learned his profession, from his first experimental drawings to his famous later pictures. The exhibition comprised some 200 works, including 150 paintings, works on paper, letters and personal items owned by Van Gogh, such as original sketchbooks, tubes of paint and his only surviving palette, from the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. Top exhibits from the Van Gogh Museum’s own collection and exceptional loans produced unique combinations which illustrated how, over the course of ten years, Van Gogh developed into a unique artist with an imposing body of work.
